MEL B’s estranged husband has demanded a mega-money payout in the pair’s bitter divorce battle.

Stephen Belafonte wants a huge slice of the Spice Girl’s £40million fortune, including “spousal support” and money for his lawyers’ fees. He is also requesting joint custody of the couple’s five-year-old daughter Madison. Last night, Mel reportedly changed her divorce petition and is now asking for sole custody of the girl. Belafonte’s response to Mel’s petition also reveals the pair disagree over when they officially separated.

In his declaration filed in LA, he claims they split on March 1.

But according to Mel, the couple formally separated last December.

Mel’s decision to begin divorce proceedings last month – just 11 weeks before their 10-year anniversary – could save her millions.

Under Californian law, if the marriage had lasted longer than a decade she would be forced to financially support Belafonte until he died.

This week Mel applied for a restraining order and claimed Belafonte beat her during their marriage. She also claimed he got their nanny Lorraine Gilles pregnant and paid for an abortion.

Belafonte strongly denies the accusations against him.

Yesterday German Lorraine, 26, was seen out for the first time since the scandal erupted, walking with her husband Michael Bleau.

And a picture emerged of a fully made-up Belafonte strolling outside a hotel in London’s Mayfair, in 2009.
