KOEMAN STILL UP FOR SCRAP

- ® by CHRIS McKENNA

RONALD KOEMAN has told his Everton players to carry on fighting.

Toffees defender Ashley Williams and Romelu Lukaku clashed on the pitch during the 1-1 draw with Manchester United at Old Trafford on Tuesday.

Lukaku reacted angrily at Williams when the Welshman criticised his team-mate for sloppy play (right).

But Toffees boss Koeman has no problem with his stars arguing as he believes they have been too nice.

He said: “What I like to see is passion and they need to understand and support each other.

“I saw a reaction because I think we are too nice and you have to talk – and maybe sometimes you have to shout.

“But I don’t have a problem because it’s an emotional thing.

“The two boys have spoken to each other because you need to win the game and afterwards be friends, but not on the pitch.” Seventh-placed Everton host Leicester tomorrow and Koeman believes if they can beat the Foxes and follow it with another three points against Burnley next week, then they can challenge for fifth spot.

Koeman said: “I expect if we get six points from the next two home games we would fight for fifth and sixth place.”

Everton teenager Tom Davies will not go to the European Under-19 Championship in Georgia with England this summer.

Koeman added: “He will not play in that tournament. He needs a summer of rest.

“Our director of football Steve Walsh spoke to the people from the FA about this. He will not be involved.”
