FESTIVAL REUNION

-

ROD Stewart is bringing the remnants of The Faces back together for his Isle

Of Wight headline set.

Festival season is just around the corner and Isle Of Wight is the first big one. Rod plans to make it extra special by bringing exsparring partner Ronnie Wood on stage. Festival head honcho John Giddings told me: “I suspect Ronnie and co may come along. “He will put on a bit of a show because it was on his bucket list to play the Isle Of Wight. “And he’s got a hit called Sailing!” Drummer Kenney Jones is also tipped to join the reunion party on June 11. If all goes to plan it will only be Rod’s second performance with The Faces in over 20 years, the last being at a prostate cancer benefit gig in 2015.

It promises to be an all-star occasion for the rocker.

John spilled: “One of the groups on the bill are recording a song with Rod Stewart, but I’m not going to tell you who it is because I’d be letting the cat out of the bag.

“The idea that they would be working with him was really interesting.”

That act is rumoured to be Catfish & The Bottlemen. On top of that Rod wants a celebrity duet on stage. John said: “There’s a girl on the bill who I’m trying to get to do a duet with him too.”

Don’t be surprised if that is Melanie C or possibly Imelda May.

Booking Rod, 72, was a lifelong dream come true for John.

He said: “I bumped into Rod at a charity do and I said: ‘Why’ve you never played the Isle Of Wight Festival?’ and he said: ‘Well no-one’s ever asked me.’ I said: ‘They have now’ and that was it!”
