rmi. We o us wful be part less t. that nd I rt to arathan and ncer been y is doing absolutely incredible things – it is the world’s leading cancer charity dedicated to saving lives through research and funds over 4,000 scientists, doctors and nurses across the UK.”

Running does come with its own health risks, and the months of training can play havoc with your body.

“I’m always battling injuries as my hips and knees aren’t aligned properly and I have very tight calves,” admits Ashley. “I’ve been going to physio in preparation for the marathon, but last year I couldn’t walk for several days. In terms of my physique, I definitely put on weight when I’m not running because I eat all the time!” Music helps her push through the pain: “I listen to garage and grime nearly all the time, but especially when running as the beat is so good and it’s upbeat.” Ashley also DJs for a living alongside her pal Charlotte de Carle under the name of BitterSweet. She recalls, “We recently DJ’d at the Teatro in Madrid for Eva Longoria at the Global Gift Gala. It’s the second time the venue has ever been used for a private function, the first was for the Spanish queen. The Spanish certainly know how to party!”

Ashley has a huge social media following and strong views on feminism which got her into a Twitter spat with Piers Morgan.

She hit out at the GMB host, branding him a “c**k” over his views on actress Emma Watson’s topless shoot with Vanity Fair.

Ashley says: “We don’t know each other to have to make up. I just disagree with his views on a lot of things.

“Just because you’re showing off your body it doesn’t mean you’re doing it for men to be sexual over you. I think social media means a lot of people are scared to voice differing opinions, and that’s a shame.

“It’s not personal, I just hate his antagonistic and slightly misogynistic approach to feminism.”

Maybe she should encourage Piers to run the marathon himself !

She agrees: “If you’re thinking of running the marathon then do it, it’s the most challenging yet rewarding day ever.

“I keep looking proudly on at my medal.” ¬
