Double disaster for Jack

- By ALEX CROOK

JACK WILSHERE has suffered a double blow after breaking his leg and learning Bournemouth don’t want him any more. The Arsenal ace has spent this season on loan at the Cherries. But his campaign is over after it was confirmed yesterday he suffered a hairline fracture of his leg in Saturday’s 4-0 drubbing at Tottenham. Wilshere (above) fractured his left fibula – the same injury that ruled him out for most of last season. Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe was already in two

minds about whether to try and buy Wilshere at the end of the season.

But following the England man’s latest setback, Howe is now ready to look elsewhere.

Wilshere has played 27 games for the Cherries but managed only two assists and failed to score a single goal.

Bournemouth would have to smash their wage structure to accommodate the £100,000-a-week ace.

In a statement, Howe said: “It is a big blow to lose Jack.

“We have loved working with him since he arrived at the club last August.

“He has made a huge contribution to our season, both on and off the pitch.

“We wish him a quick recovery and thank him for his effort and professionalism.”

Luckless Wilshere – who is about to enter the final year of his Gunners contract – has returned to Arsenal for treatment.

Before moving to the Cherries he was wanted by Italian giants AC Milan.

Wilshere’s career has been blighted by a string of serious injuries.

It was initially hoped he had escaped serious injury after initial scans showed no break.

His absence is also a blow to Bournemouth, who are not yet safe from relegation.
