Kane’s Luk-ing for gold

- by PAUL BROWN

HARRY KANE has set his sights on beating Romelu Lukaku to the Premier League’s Golden Boot.

Tottenham star Kane won the award last season (right) but is currently trailing Everton striker Lukaku by four goals.

Kane scored his 20th of the campaign against Bournemouth on Saturday.

Rival

And with Spurs still chasing Chelsea for the title, he is refusing to give up on the race to become the Premier League’s top scorer.

Asked if he was now keeping an eye on his big rival, Kane said: “It’s hard not to!

“As a striker you want to be top scorer in the league, no doubt about it.

“I left a couple out there I probably should have scored, Lukaku has been doing well and it’s a good competition, but the main thing is we’re winning games.

“I’ve a little eye on the run-in and if I can get a few more, we’ll see what happens.”

Kane’s strike against Bournemouth was his first in almost six weeks, but he spent a month of that on the sidelines with an ankle injury.

That allowed Lukaku, who has scored 12 goals in his last 10 appearances, to pull away at the top of the standings.

And while the Belgian will have the chance to stretch his lead when Everton face West Ham this weekend, Kane will be in FA Cup semi-final action against Chelsea.

“Every game we go into we feel like we’re going to score goals and we’re keeping clean sheets, so that’s what we’ve got to try to maintain until the end of the season,” Kane added.

“It’s a big game now against Chelsea and we’re all looking forward to that, bring it on!”
