LITTLE NIGHTMARES (PS4, Xbox One £15.99) DESIGN If you want the best-looking phone money can buy, then the search is over.

The Galaxy S8 oozes class with its stunning display curving gracefully around its edges.

The clever, almost bezel-free design, also means Samsung has managed to create a much bigger screen in a device that’s physically smaller. This makes handling the phone easier and also means it’s less annoying in your pocket.

We love the look and feel of the S8, especially as Samsung has continued to make it water resistant.

But with an all-glass finish it’s a magnet for mucky fingerprints. DISPLAY Samsung is calling its new screen an Infinity display and it deserves every award going.

This stunning 5.8-inch QUAD HD+ beauty is one of the best we’ve ever seen with colours so bright they almost hurt your eyes.

Samsung is also boasting that the S8 is the world’s first smartphone certified to play Ultra HD content, which services such as Amazon and Netflix are now broadcasting.

The S8’s screen really is a joy but it’s not faultless. We have noticed that when accessing some websites the words appear to curve around the sides of the display making them tricky to read.

There’s also an annoying blue glow which sometimes runs down the side of the display. CAMERA The S8’s cameras are almost identical to last year’s S7 and that’s not a bad thing.

Samsung’s snappers remain some of the best in the business and the S8 is capable of stunning shots. One of the biggest changes is the upgraded 8-megapixel frontfacing camera with auto focus.

Along with photography you can also shoot video in 4K Ultra high resolution. The S8 has a solid camera but it’s a shame Samsung hasn’t followed the likes of Apple and LG, which now include dual-lens cameras. FINGERPRINT SCANNER If there’s one major downfall of the Galaxy S8 it has to be the fingerprint scanner.

This popular security feature has now been plonked on the rear of the phone next to the camera.

It’s really hard to find and attempting to place your finger on it usually ends with the camera lens covered in a greasy mess.

The iris/facial recognition is a bit hit and miss and makes unlocking the S8 even more frustrating. BATTERY It looks like Samsung has overcome its exploding battery problems with the S8 capable of powering you through the day.

During our usual Star Wars Trilogy test, the S8 managed to keep going through all three films and still have 70% left in the tank, impressive stuff. Once things do run low there’s plenty of power saving modes to keep the device running longer. BIXBY Bixby is Samsung’s virtual personal assistant and is aimed at making your life easier.

Samsung has even included a button on the side of the device which springs it into life.

In reality it’s all a bit of a waste of time with many features such as voice control not even working in the UK until later this year. SPEED AND MEMORY After last year’s S7 was beaten by its rivals in speed tests, Samsung needed to give the S8 a boost.

And they have certainly done that. The Galaxy S8 is incredibly fast with its new Octa core processor providing a slick experience. There’s also 64GB of memory. VERDICT The Galaxy S8 is the best smartphone we’ve ever tested.

It looks stunning, has a gorgeous display, is powerful and has a decent pair of cameras. The clever Infinity display also means Samsung has managed to create a super-sized screen.

We love the S8 and, even with its annoying glitches, Samsung definitely has a winner on its hands.
