Joshua fights for lags

Joshua plots a prison mission

BOXER superstar Anthony Joshua is heading back to prison – to teach lags how they can turn their lives around just like him.

ANTHONY Joshua wants to go into prisons to tell cons how they too can make millions if they turn their lives around.

The heavyweight champ, who pocketed £15million for stopping Wladimir Klitschko at Wembley on Saturday, used to be a street-fighting bricklayer.

He ended up on remand in Reading prison for brawling before being released on an electronic tag.

Later he was arrested for possessing cannabis. He escaped being jailed, but the offence led to a temporary boxing ban. However it encouraged Joshua to turn his back on crime, focus on his training and save his brawling for the ring.

He won Olympic gold in 2012, turned pro and after defeating Klitschko now holds three world titles.

Joshua, 27, who celebrated by picking up a new Range Rover, wants other lags follow his example.

He said: “I’d like to inspire kids. I’d like to do talks in prisons because they’ll know my story and understand me.”

Arrest

He said his arrest for cannabis possession while wearing his Team GB tracksuit was the turning point in his life.

“The arrest changed me a lot,” he said. “It forced me to grow up and respect my responsibilities.”

Joshua, who still lives with his social worker mum Yeta Odusanya in a former council flat in Golders Green, north London, insists that “being a boxer you have to be a man of the people”.

But sports marketing consultant Nigel Currie said: “He’s poised to become the highest-paid British sportsperson of all time. It’s that big.”

watching Theresa may on Andrew marr show he pressed her about nurses having to use food banks – she’s not listening to the people I’ve sent 3 e-mails to her office not even one reply and she keeps saying we’ve got to come together. I hope someone at downing street sees this. McCall It seems it’s ok for nurses in 2017 to go to foodbanks, may hates to even discuss it on marr! HAM SPAM the pm made promises on andrew marr and peston on sunday, let’s see how long it takes her to break them. Decker Blair is back in politics saying “you need to get your hands dirty”, he certainly did that by going to war in IRAQ, and always crawling to EU, the slimy slug. col Great! Tony Blair returning, that’s all we need! He did more than enough damage when he was pm. If he hadn’t took us into Iraq the world would be a much more stable place now. It was him that opened the can of worms, stay away! Mooseman The arrogance of Tony Blair of his intention to take an active part in trying to shape the policy debate for the forthcoming election is showing nothing but contempt, I feel, for Jeremy Corbyns abilities as the Labour leader. Quinny, Manchester Of course Blair has more in common with Lib Dems, they’re all anti Brexit. The man has no scruples, he’s a snake. Go crawl back under your stone. JASPER prisoners beat up prison staff at HMP Cookham wood, time to stamp on these animals, officers should no longer step in until they have breaten each other senseless. Stockton jeff The story by Andrew Gardner in DS Sunday saying that the prison officers were lucky to not have been seriously hurt. They suffered broken cheek bones and concussion plus cuts and bruises. To me that is serious. Add additional 5 years to their sentences. Farouk Crosshill Re basmaniac: Sgt Blackman didn’t kill an unarmed Muslim he killed a wounded taliban soldier who probably had he lived would have gone on to kill more UK troops. bob the brit congratulations to Anthony Joshua.
