PRIME Minister Theresa May and her husband Philip spoke of their life as a married couple last night in their first joint TV interview.

THERESA May unveiled her general election secret weapon last night – her “strong and stable” husband Philip.

They appeared together on The One Show sofa for their first-ever joint TV interview.

And also on telly yesterday was Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn, who launched his party’s campaign in Manchester. The Prime Minister’s personal interview was aimed at showing the Tory leader’s human side.

Philip, 59, who has worked in finance for decades, said parts of their domestic life would be familiar to any couple – despite his wife being PM. He said there was “give and take in every mar- riage” but being married to the PM left him little room for manoeuvre on some matters.

He joked: “I get to decide when I take the bins out, not if I take the bins out.”

Meanwhile, Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn was also on TV, launching his general election campaign in Manchester.

He got support from former Corrie and Broadchurch actress Julie Hesmondhalgh, who gave a rallying cry to the party faithful.

She said they should fight for a government who “truly gives a toss about stuff ”.

Later, Mr Corbyn repeatedly refused to say if Britain would leave the EU if he was PM.

He was asked six times but his only reply was there was a “clear vote” at last year’s referendum.
