BOWYER MAD FOR IT
GARY BOWYER expects his mum to continue questioning his sanity, despite leading Blackpool to a bittersweet play-off win.
Less than 6,000 Tangerines fans watched their men march back to League One in the mother of all boycotts – 24,000 less than their last visit to Wembley five years ago.
Bowyer said: “I think my mum will still think I’m mad for taking this job.
“What can be done? I can’t answer it. All I can affect is day-to-day coaching. I will be going to the chairman for new players, that’s my criteria.
“It is a shame because it would have been great to have more here.
“But the ones that were here made a hell of a noise, like they have all season.
“On the first day I walked into the club, I said we couldn’t control it.
“I was used to that situation at Yp @8E 98B<I Blackburn, where fans weren’t happy with their owners, so I was used that experience.”
A large section of Wembley was left empty as Blackpool supporters continued their protest against chairman Karl Oyston.

On the pitch, Brad Potts sidefooted home after just three minutes following a clever flick from Mark Cullen.
David Wheeler levelled for Exeter on 40 minutes with a fine finish after seizing on to quickly-taken free-kick from Craig Woodman. But Blackpool dominated the second half, with Cullen bagging the 65th-minute winner.
It came after impressive play by Potts. Cullen tapped home from three yards out to earn Blackpool a fifth play-off triumph, more than any other club.
Exeter boss Paul Tisdale said: “I’m very proud of the players and the season we had.
“We will regret the result but should be pleased with what we have done. This club is in the healthiest state I’ve ever seen it.
“It’s a tough environment to play in, with the pressure, and the performance doesn’t always get the result.
“We gave ourselves an opportunity, which unfortunately we didn’t take.
“But we’ll have to look again for next year. We will start again in four weeks and give it another good go.”
