SHAME FATTIES LIKE SMOKERS

FAT people should be shamed like smokers in a bid to combat Britain’s obesity crisis, a health expert has claimed.

Professor Dame Carol Black wants to make it “socially unacceptable” to be overweight.

She believes drastic action is needed after claiming that almost 900,000 Brits are too fat to work.

While the official number of people claiming sickness benefits for obesity is 160,000, Dame Carol warns the true figure is at least 880,000.

She wants to see public opinion turn against obesity like it turned against smoking. She said: “I want it to be socially unacceptable. It seems the public doesn’t mind it. I’ve seen no feeling that it would be a good thing that we all try to be a more normal weight. It hasn’t caught on.”

Dame Carol, pictured, believes fatties on benefits should be forced to see health advisors.

She also thinks job centres should order gutbucket Brits to attend slimming classes.

Dame Carol, principal of Newnham College at Cambridge University, said official Government figures of Brits too fat to work were too low.

She explained that when people say they are too sick to work, benefit forms only allow them to put down one illness. Hundreds of thousands of fatties could be listing other conditions which are linked to obesity, such as heart problems and type 2 diabetes instead. They are therefore not included in figures of those unable to work because of obesity. In a report for the Department for Work and Pensions, Dame Carol proposes people should be able to list multiple reasons why they are unable to work.
