Sissoko’s fee plea to Spurs

- by PAUL BROWN

MOUSSA SISSOKO has pleaded with Tottenham not to price him out of a move this summer.

The Spurs misfit wants out of White Hart Lane after making just eight league starts last season and has attracted interest from Marseille.

But chairman Daniel Levy wants to recoup as much as possible of the £30m it cost to sign the midfielder from Newcastle.

Sissoko said: “I don’t think the fee will be a problem. They know I am no longer a kid. I am 27 and I need to get to the World Cup.

“If a situation arrives where I can leave, I hope they don’t cause problems.

“I would prefer to stay in England but I have not closed the door on other leagues.

“Ligue 1 is attractive, we saw that with teams like Paris St-Germain and Monaco, but also with Lyon, Nice and Marseille.”

Spurs pipped Everton to sign Sissoko (below) on deadline day last September.

But he failed to fire at White Hart Lane and said: “It was the worst season of my career when collectively it was certainly the best – it’s weird.

“I will talk to the coach. He usually gives good advice. He knows me well. I wish there was better communication.

“What I want most is that everything be clear. If the coach no longer counts on me, if he thinks the players who are there are better, he should say so.” Sissoko is one of several fringe players Spurs could move on with Kevin Wimmer and GeorgesKevin Nkoudou also likely to leave.
