SEVEN DAYS TO SAVE UK, MAY WARNS VOTERS

- By JOE KASPER joe.kasper@dailystar.co.uk

THERESA May last night warned there are seven days to save the UK from Jeremy Corbyn.

The Tory leader pleaded with voters to have “faith” in her during a speech on a visit to the north-east.

It followed a backlash from the public as a result of her no-show on the BBC telly debate on Wednesday evening. Home Secretary Amber Rudd was sent to fill May’s spot alongside the Labour chief and other party leaders just days after her dad had died.

One poll put May behind the Labour boss in London for the first time.

Bookies Coral reduced the odds of Mr Corbyn winning the election to 7-2. But Ms May pledged to “fight to earn every vote”.

She launched a vicious attack on Mr Corbyn days after she said he was not prepared for Brexit negotiations and would go into them “alone and naked”.

She said: “You can only deliver for Britain if you have the strength, the plan and the determination to see it through.

“And what we know in this election is that the only other person that can be Prime Minister in seven days’ time is simply not up to the job.

“He doesn’t believe in Britain. He doesn’t have a plan. He doesn’t have what it takes.

“I am confident that we can fulfil the promise of Brexit together and build a Britain that is stronger, fairer and even more prosperous than it is today.”

But some voters could be in for a fright.
