really been focusing harder on my training for it.” What do you love about it?

“For me, not only is running a great way to keep fit but it is also a time where I put my earphones in and totally zone out. I love running outdoors, watching everything. The treadmill has never been my favourite thing.” What’s your training regime?

“I have upped my training a lot. I am doing a variety of different length runs, 5-6 mile or 7-8 mile just so I am used to the long distance. I’m also doing an hour of light cardio and light weights in the evening. I really enjoy going to different classes such as kettle bells, cardio classes and circuits to help with body strength.” What do you eat before the big day?

“I don’t want to eat anything too heavy on the morning of the run. The night before I’ll have some pasta or noodles to give me some energy and on the morning I’ll have a light breakfast, maybe Ryvita crackers with eggs.”

What are your tips for anyone thinking of taking up running?

“At first you may think of it as a chore but stick at it because you get addicted and it’s so rewarding!” Sam’s typical daily diet: Breakfast: Protein shake Lunch: Ryvita crackers, avocado, egg, salmon

Dinner: Rice, chicken, vegetables Snacks: Fruit Guilty pleasure: Domino’s pizza

Sam is raising funds for Metro Radio Cash 4 Kids.
