TIME TO ROCK THE DEMONS

- By PATRICK WEAVER

FAVOURITE backers should get off to a good start on the first day of Doncaster’s St Leger meeting.

DEMONS ROCK (2.20, treble) hasn’t looked back since upped to 6f and being sent to the front from the off.

Shabaaby might improve past him but Richard Kingscote’s mount is certainly the form pick and will take some catching.

RUM RUNNER (2.50, nap) stayed on well to win his maiden at Sandown and may have been under-rated by the handicapper.

Richard Fahey’s trio – Crownthorpe, Guzman and Inviolable Spirit – are all winners but Crownthorpe is at the top of his game, whereas the others won in the spring.

There is little between THESME (3.20), Final Venture and Encore D’Or on official ratings.

The selection was second in the race 12 months ago, and hopefully will get off the mark for the season.

The ex-jockeys race regularly goes to a rider that retired recently.

That rules out the likes George Duffield, Tony Clark, and Tony Culhane.

Brian Harding and ® Adrian Nicholls have not been gone long from the weighing room so OFF ART (3.50) and Fire Palace should have an advantage. BENGAL LANCER (4.20, nb) has proved impossible to beat over seven furlongs this summer. He can complete his hat-trick. MIRAGE DANCER (4.50) will need to be at his best to stop Mount Logan winning the race for the second successive year. FOXTROT KNIGHT (5.20) is a good each-way bet as any.
