ROSE SINGS PRAISES OF SPURS FANS
DANNY ROSE admits he feared Tottenham supporters would turn on him against Real Madrid.
Rose finally made his injury comeback after eight months out in Tuesday’s 1-1 draw at the Bernabeu.
But he expected the boo boys to be out in force after he was disciplined for slamming the club’s transfer policy in the summer.
Instead, Spurs fans sang his name during and after the game – and Rose insists he has put the episode behind him. He said: “I was expecting a frosty reception from the fans, so I just have to say thank you to them for giving me a great reception when I came on and when I was training afterwards.
“I want to thank them again for chanting my name. I’m trying to look forward now for the rest of the season. First and foremost, I have to try to win my shirt back.”
Trophy
Rose was forced to apologise for claiming he was underpaid and complaining he had to Google some of his side’s signings.
But while the 27-yearold left-back remains a transfer target for Manchester United, he insists there are no hard feelings between him and Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino.
Rose said: “It’s gone now, my manager has forgotten about it and we all move forward and we try to win this club a trophy.
“It is forgotten about. My opinions will be voiced in a different way from now on.”
Rose suffered medial knee ligament damage in January and underwent surgery in May, but came on for the last 10 minutes against Real.
He said: “The past eight months have been very difficult, very frustrating. It’s been hard to watch the lads do well last season and even this season they’ve done very well.
“It’s been difficult to watch. But to come on was special and I can’t wait to get going now.
“It’s taken a lot longer than expected but I’m over the moon I’m back.
“I want to win my shirt back here, win my shirt back for England. I want to win something here this season and I want to be in the World Cup squad at the end of the season.
“My season starts now and I can’t wait to get going.”
