PEP GUARDIOLA’S Manchester City revolution came up against a stubborn obstacle as they looked to rewrite the club record books last night.
Sergio Aguero was gunning for a new club scoring record as he aimed for the 178th goal of his glorious City career.
And the Carabao Cup tie gave City the chance of notching up 12 straight wins in league and cup – the best run in their history.
But the Championship visitors should have snatched a first-half lead when Ryan Bennett played in Bright Enobakhare.

A dreadful slip from error-prone defender Eliaquim Mangala let the striker clean through on goal but Claudio Bravo spared his team-mate’s blushes with a brave and well-timed block at his feet.
It took a similarly impressive block by the keeper to deny Helder Costa midway through the second half as the Wolves winger bore down on his goal.

Aguero, in contrast, had needed just 262 appearances to tie that mark.
It sums up a phenomenal career for the Argentinian in England, dating back to his first goal on his debut in August 2011, when he netted against Swansea eight minutes after coming on as a sub.
His chase for the record had been held up by his taxi smash in Amsterdam which left him nursing a broken rib.
But after equalling the record, the 29-yearold was not wasting any time as he looked for goal number 178.
