BOY HELD OVER HOL SHOOTING
‘Bully row’ dad, 32, killed
A BOY of 14 was in custody last night after a schoolgirl’s dad was shot dead when he went round to a neighbour’s home to talk about bullying.
Police arrested him on suspicion of murder after Lee Holt, 32, was hit once in the chest outside the semi-detached house.
One horrified neighbour told how she heard a woman screaming “Blood, blood” on Wednesday night.
Battle
Another dashed from his house in Oswaldtwistle, Lancs, and fought to resuscitate road painter Mr Holt before police and paramedics arrived. He died in hospital later.
One neighbour said: “I heard the gunshot. I was sat at home. It was very loud.
“Within a few minutes you could hear all the police arriving. Normally this area is just a nice quiet place.”
Another said: “My wife was walking the dog when she heard what happened.
“I knew first aid so I tried to administer it to the man.”
Neighbours said the arrested teenager’s dad is a tree surgeon who keeps guns at the property. He has a younger brother and sister. Last night two blue police tents covered the front of the house where the shooting happened.
Shane Murray wrote on Facebook: “RIP my mate Lee Holt. Thoughts and prayers for the family at this sad time.”
Mr Holt’s family were too upset to talk. But Jodie Metcalfe, believed to be the sister of Mr Holt’s girlfriend Kate Metcalfe, wrote on Facebook: “Rest easy Lee, a truly brave man to put my nephew and sister’s life before your own. I will be forever grateful for that. Sweet dreams, justice will be served.”
