Isle hero is back

A LUFTWAFFE radio operator who smuggled food to a Guernsey family have been reunited over 70 years later.

Rudi Schoberl, 96, risked execution to help Netta Hallett and her eight children.

Netta’s daughter Loretta, 86, said: “He was so good to us. He risked his life with so many of the things he did for us.”

Rudi travelled from a care home in Banbury, Oxon, to meet the family.
