A PAKISTANI Christian was attacked and “left for dead” by Muslims because he displayed poppies on his car.

Tajamal Amar, 46, was beaten with a knuckleduster, kicked and punched by thugs angry at his support for the British armed forces.

He accused his two attackers of “trying to force Islam into this country” and vowed to show his defiance by putting even more poppies on his vehicle.

Tajamal said: “I am a huge supporter of the British armed forces and the work that they do around the world to stop the bad people and to make us safe.

“For a long time I have given money to charities like Help For Heroes and the Poppy Appeal because I respect what they are doing in protecting us. I want to salute their good work and the poppies show that.”

The attack happened in an alleyway in Derby.

Tajamal came round in hospital six hours later after suffering internal bleeding in his head, a broken nose and bruising.

The men he suspects of the assault were Pakistani Muslims he had caught staring at him earlier that evening.

It was the third time in 12 months he has been targeted by Muslims because of his Christian faith and the two poppies he displays on his motor all year round.

Tajamal moved to the UK from Pakistan 10 years ago after being targeted in a drive-by shooting by Islamists.

He says he has been advised by police to move his wife and daughter, seven, to a new address.

Wilson Chowdhry, of the British Pakistani Christian Association, said Amar was “living in fear”.

The savage attack is being investigated by police.
