WEIGHTS FAVOUR BRAVERY
Today's tip-top tips from Starform's Chris Goulding
1.30 AYR – Fergal O’Brien’s decision to make the long journey from his Gloucestershire yard with GLOBAL STAGE should pay off. This winning Irish pointer ran a solid race over hurdles when runner-up to Ballyarthur on his penultimate start. His experience should enable him to have the edge over his less experienced rivals.
1.55 Leicester – Lincoln winner BRAVERY (nap) returned from the wilderness to finish an excellent second behind Zabeel Prince at York. A repeat of that running should suffice. His poor efforts, since that Lincoln success in April have seen him tumble down the weights. His rating today is 3lb lower than when taking that competitive handicap. The consistent Fire
Brigade is paying the price for running well throughout the season. He is now on a 10lb higher mark than he carried when last successful but he will make the winner fight all the way to the line.
2.05 AYR – Penrith trainer Nicky Richards can enhance his excellent record at the track with BETTER GETALONG. This former useful bumper performer is clearly held in high esteem. Connections pitched him in last season’s Champion Bumper at the Cheltenham Festival in March where he was not disgraced when 12th of the 22 runners behind the ill-fated Fayonagh.
2.15 Redcar – NORDIC COMBINED (nb) can return to winning form, with the cheek pieces back on. He threw away victory last time out after failing to go through with his effort when finishing a short-head second to Uber Cool at Haydock.
2.30 Leicester – TAWFEER showed much improved form on only his second outing for Phil McEntee when going down by a short-head behind Pick A Little at Brighton over a mile. Today’s drop in distance to seven furlongs should be perfect for him to open his account for the first time.
3.40 Leicester – After mixing it with the best MAYBRIDE can now get her head in front for the first time. Bookmakers will not be generous but she is a stand-out in this weak contest. Your Choice is booked for second spot.
4.10 Amateur rider Myles Harris managed to get a winning tune out of ARCANISTA (treble) when the filly opened her account for the first time at Windsor earlier in the month. She came home an easy winner and the 6lb hike in the weights should not stop her going in again.
