GAVE US THE TENNIS ELBOW

Charity calendar ‘too suggestive’

- By ANDREW JAMESON andrew.jameson@dailystar.co.uk

FACEBOOK has been rapped after banning a tennis club’s charity calendar for being “sexually suggestive”.

Members got their kit off for the tongue-in-cheek photoshoot in aid of the Alzheimer’s Society.

The pictures show them covering their bits in a series of funny situations.

But after photographer Ashley Franklin posted them on Facebook, the social media giant quickly took them down.

The firm said the 2018 Anyone For Tennis? calendar by Belper ® Tennis Club, Derbys, “implied nudity” and claimed it was “sexually suggestive”.

Mystified Ashley said: “We did a great shoot, cheeky shots of the members covering their modesty with tennis balls.

“To get some interest going and promote it, I posted some pictures but soon received a snotty message from Facebook saying it broke their rules on nudity.”

He added: “It beggars belief, especially when you see what other images were permitted on Facebook including ones promoting terrorism. I can understand their guidelines but these images are not sexually suggestive.”

The post sent to Ashley read: “Ads with content that feature sexually suggestive positioning or that show a lot of skin (even if it’s for an artistic or education reason) aren’t allowed because of their sensitive nature.”

Belper member Jo Williams, whose mum was struck down with dementia, said: “All we wanted to do was create some fun and raise money for charity.”
