BLUNDERING Bake Off judge Prue Leith was being tipped for the chop last night after tweeting the winner’s name hours before the grand finale was shown on TV.

The red-faced foodie apologised after furious fans blasted her for ruining the show. Now past winner Nadiya Hussain is hot favourite to replace her.

“MORTIFIED” Bake Off judge Prue Leith’s future on the hit show is now in jeopardy after her final night blunder.

Producers were stunned as she wrecked the grand finale by tweeting the winner’s name 12 hours before the programme aired.

Furious fans blasted the baking expert for “ruining” the surprise. And horrified Prue later admitted she “f **** d up”.

The veteran judge was left with egg on her face after congratulating new champ Sophie Faldo online.

Prue, 77, is currently in Bhutan, and blamed her blunder on the time difference with the UK.

The major gaffe came just seconds after she boasted she had signed up for another series. But telly insiders said Channel 4 bosses were unhappy with the cock-up and could change their minds. One said: “This is pretty much the worst thing that could happen on final night.

“Everyone knows Prue is devastated and we all feel sorry for her, but this was such a rookie error.

“It has made the show a laughing stock at the end of a great series.”

Bookies are already tipping 2016 winner Nadiya Hussain to replace Prue as they shortened odds on her leaving to 6-4. Betway’s Alan Alger said: “Prue Leith has done herself no favours.” South African Prue took over from Mary Berry when the baking show left the BBC.

She tweeted yesterday morning: “No-one told me judging a GBBO final would be so emotional. I wanted them all to win. Bravo Sophie.” She quickly deleted the tweet but it had already gone viral.

Prue later wrote: “I am so sorry to the fans of the show for my mistake this morning. I am in a different time zone and mortified by my error.” She added: “I’m in too much of a state to talk about it. It was a mistake. I f **** d up.”

One dismayed fan wrote: “Obviously a mistake but Prue Leith has just ruined tonight’s GBBO final for me and whoever else saw her tweet that’s just been deleted.”

Another said: “My mum is absolutely fuming that Prue Leith has ruined the bake off final for her.”

Prue was mocked on social media, with many of the jokes and memes involving her predecessor Mary.

Last night Bake Off bosses declined to comment.
