Thug mum had 65 convictions
A DRUNKEN woman killed a stranger by pushing him under the wheels of a tram.
Charissa Brown-Wellington, 31, had also taken Ecstasy before lunging at Philip Carter in a row on a busy platform.
She shouted at her victim: “What are you looking at? Get the f*** out of my face.”
After being pushed Mr Carter, 30, lost his balance and fell between the tram carriages as it left Manchester’s Victoria station.
Other passengers, including a 16-year-old, saw him dragged screaming under the wheels.
Brown-Wellington, who had 65 convictions ® and a propensity for “impulsive violence” was heard saying: “I didn’t mean it. He got in my face and was aggressive, so I pushed him away.
“All my life I have put up with men putting their hands on me.’’
The mum of two was jailed for five years at Manchester Crown Court. She had denied murder but admitted manslaughter.
The court heard the incident happened on June 12 after Brown-Wellington drank a bottle of wine and two cans of lager with her fiancé.
Trouble flared at 8pm after she encountered Mr Carter who had also been drinking. Robert Hall, prosecuting, said BrownWellington was “lairy and loud” and asked the labourer: “What are you looking at?”
In mitigation, her lawyer Mark Ford said she was “still tormented by the consequences of her actions”.
Mr Justice William Davies told Brown-Wellington, from Chadderton, Gtr Manchester: “I accept that you are remorseful, but the problem is that by your aggressive behaviour you have killed a man unnecessarily.’’
