Strictly Craig's caning

TOUGH telly judge Craig Revel Horwood has stuck the knife into Strictly’s celebrity dancers.

He has warned that none of them is now “a dead cert” to win.

In a damning “half-term report”, the acid-tongued panellist thinks they could all do better, including bookies’ favourite Debbie McGee.

He said: “This year’s series really has been full of surprises. Aston [Merrygold] has already fallen and Alexandra [Burke] could stumble at the next hurdle.

“The celebs have to canvass votes from the public – you can be the greatest dancer in the world but if the audience does not support you, you’ll never get to the final.

“If you’d asked me a couple of weeks ago who would be in the final I’d have said, without a shadow of a doubt, Aston, Alexandra and Debbie. But all bets are off! Ultimately, none of them is a dead cert.”

The “Queen of Mean” delivers some damning verdicts in the Radio Times on the remaining eight celebrities in the BBC contest.

He says of Debbie: “She’s an amazing dancer but it can be a little samey. And she still needs to knock the ballet out of her body a little bit.”

Craig says comedian Susan Calman is “like a bull at a gate, who loses all sense of grace”.

He adds: “I don’t think she’ll make the final.”

He thinks Saturdays babe Mollie King “can look awkward and wooden sometimes” and “has no natural ability” for dance. And he sends a word of warning to Alexandra, who has fans divided with her overthe-top reactions, plus the EastEnders hunk Davood Ghadami, who has already been in the dance-off.

The TV judge said: “Alexandra is a frontrunner for the final but then so was Aston, so she needs to make sure the public is behind her in order to get that far.

“As for Davood, I was surprised he was in the danceoff in week four.”

He claims Joe McFadden is a dark horse, adding: “He could be a real contender.”
