Lingfield – ROSEAU CITY (nb) showed a nice late turn of foot to come clear of subsequent winner Bezos when winning at Chelmsford and looked to have defied a 6lb penalty in her next outing at this track only for the photo to reveal that she had been done on the nod by Motown Mick. She is back in the hands of her successful Chelmsford pilot Sean Levey today. Prolific winning jockey Luke Morris is an interesting booking for Headwear who rates the danger. Huntingdon – DJANGO DJANGO is a grand stamp of future chaser but in the meantime the five-yearold has a few novice and handicap hurdles to win. The Jonjo O’Neilltrained gelding looked a winner in waiting when second in a big field at Doncaster behind And The New, keeping on strongly in the closing stages. The Blues Master blundered away a winning chance at Wetherby on his jumps debut but this Flat winner when with Mark Johnston will not be a hurdling maiden for long. Lingfield – DESERT WIND Doncaster – MOUNT MEWS (nap) returns to the scene of two of his six victories (in 10 outings). On the evidence of his chase debut win at this track earlier in the month it would be no surprise should he take his place in some of the better novice chases at the business end of the season. This son of Presenting is not short of speed and travels supremely well in his races, but his pedigree suggests he could be even better when tackling a proper stamina test like today’s. Exeter handicap chase winner Wotzizname and £110,000 point-to-point purchase Robbin’hannon are both coming off below-par efforts but these two talented individuals add lustre to the best race on the card. Huntingdon – OUR KAEMPFER (treb) took his chance in last season’s RSA Chase at the Festival won by current Gold Cup favourite Might Bite and the previous year he was a very close fifth in the Pertemps Final at Cheltenham. A class act, then, he has put together some poor runs lately but a sudden return to top form this afternoon would be easily explained – he has just had a wind operation. He runs off a pound lower rating (138) in this Pertemps qualifier compared to his excellent run in the final of March 2016. The encouragement to take a chance in this race is heightened by the fact that the likely short-priced favourite Protek Des Flos in the McManus colours is unproven over the extended three-mile trip. Kempton – There was plenty to like about the way RAKEMATIZ went after his conqueror Kafeel at Lingfield last time out and a lot to like about the strength of the form – in third place that day came Spart Parts who went on to win his next four races.
