Joe is fired by Forest dream
RISING star Joe Worrall’s dream is to lead out his beloved Nottingham Forest at Wembley.
The central defender, 21, is Forest mad and insists he’s sticking around despite £10m inquiries from Burnley and Crystal Palace.
Local lad Worrall (inset) was one of the stars of Forest’s dramatic 4-2 win over Arsenal in the third round which clinched today’s trip to Hull.
He came to the fore when he skippered England Under-20s to victory in the Toulon Tournament last summer and is tipped for big things.
But it doesn’t come much bigger than Forest in his eyes.
Worrall said: “I am committed to Forest. Everybody knows I’m a fan. I love playing for the club and don’t want to leave, I want to get Forest back to where they belong – the Premier League.”
Worrall made his 50th appearance for Forest in Saturday’s 2-0 win over Wolves and signed a new long-term contract at the club in October. But he admitted that even his family are getting carried away by all the speculation about him. Worrall said: “My dad is asking me all the time, ‘Where are you going?’ ‘‘There’s rumours and speculation, everyone can say what they want but I am a Forest player. “I’m just happy as long as I’m wearing a Forest shirt. ‘‘I’ve got a long-term goal of what I want to do with Forest on a personal level as well as the club’s aspirations. For me to leave now would be silly. “I just want to play as many games as I can for the club and cement my place in the team. “I want to captain the club eventually. I’ve had a little taster of it and I would like to make that a permanent thing.”
