Hereford – Jamie Moore must have been tempted by something special to swerve the Plumpton card where he has ridden scores of winners down the years – and TOWN

PARKS (nap) could just be the reason. Moore was on board when Town Parks got the better of a protracted battle with Arctic Gold at Uttoxeter on New Year’s Eve, and the well beaten third horse home, Back To The Thatch, won his next race to underline the strength of the form.

Plumpton – The switch to Olly Murphy’s yard has been the making of Saucysioux and she has won three on the bounce. But before you take the odds-on there are no fewer than three negatives to consider: she has been raised 21lb since the first of those wins; the victories came in the hands of Richard Johnson (twice) and hot conditional Jonjo O’Neill, whereas today she has an inexperienced conditional in the saddle, and the mare has had a break of 56 days since her latest win. There must be some value elsewhere in the race and BALLYHEIGUE BAY (treble) catches the eye in this regard. His most recent visit to Plumpton, in March last year, resulted in an easy win as favourite and only last November he battled on doggedly from the front to be a close third behind Spiritofthegames over an inadequate 2m4f.

Plumpton – BLUE

APRIL (nb) and Be Daring were separated by just a neck at Fontwell last time out and could again fight out the finish of this two-mile affair. Be Daring did well to put in a challenge from off the pace that day and many punters will be backing the grey to turn the tables, especially with the talented and in-form Harry Reed taking 7lb off. However, at the line, Blue April still had a little bit in hand and the advantage of having his regular rider (Nick Scholfield) in the saddle is also a big plus.

– ZEST was odds on to win a modest affair at Lingfield in which the four runners flashed across the line together. Zest was there to be taken up the home straight but she showed pace and determination to land the prize.
