TEMPERATURES are so low at the Winter Olympics that TV presenters’ make-up is freezing to their faces.

The BBC’s Amy Williams and Eilidh Barbour both say the bitter -24C temps in Pyeongchang make it impossible to talk on air.

Amy, who won the 2010 skeleton gold at the Games in Vancouver, tweeted to her 76,000 followers: “So anyone know of good make-up that is oil-based?

“Water-based make-up literally is freezing on your face it’s that cold!! #help #facefreeze.”

Eilidh added: “Will PyeongChang be too cold EVEN for a Winter Olympics? It’s not just me looking out the blankets. Even the skis are struggling to cope.

“Left the gym with water. Arrived home with ice….#quitechilly.”

Some followers gave the women advice on how to combat the conditions, while others were less sympathetic. One said: “Man up Barbour.”

Forecasters reckon the South Korean games are set to be the coldest on record as temperatures continue to nosedive.

The Olympics in Lillehammer, Norway, in 1994, were the last to see the mercury plummet to these levels.

Worsening weather meant one of the top events was called off. Gusts of nearly 50mph forced the men’s downhill to be shifted to Thursday.

The women’s slopestyle qualification was also moved.

Team GB had a good weekend topped off by Andrew Musgrave shocking audiences when he was as high as second in the men’s skiathlon.

The 27-year-old eventually fell to seventh but was elated after his previous best – 29th at the Sochi Games in 2014.
