Coady’s Captain Marb-le

- by STEVE MADELEY

CAPTAIN Conor Coady claims the only way is ‘Marbs’ for Wolves’ Championship promotion charge.

Coady says the leaders’ week-long training camp in Marbella has brought the team together for the final push for the Premier League.

That team spirit was on view on Saturday as they held off a QPR fightback, with Coady’s late goal-line clearance securing a third straight win since their sunshine trip in January.

“It was huge,” he said. “I don’t think this club have done that in a long time.

“It was a great idea and we had a great week of working hard and we got things done.

“It was like being at home when it came to training, but with the boys all together afterwards we could have dinner, things like that.

Digging

“It was a fantastic week and I thought it was something all the boys needed to really kick on.

“In the second half it wasn’t our free-flowing best but it’s about digging in and being resilient.”

Wolves led on 12 minutes when Ivan Cavaleiro crossed to the near post where Alfred N’Diaye arrived late and bundled the ball home.

It was 2-0 on 21 minutes when Cavaleiro tore clear down the left and crossed for a Helder Costa tap-in.

QPR pulled a goal back six minutes into the second half when the ball bounced around the Wolves box and Conor Washington unleashed a fabulous overhead kick past John Ruddy.

And in the final minute Coady cleared desperately from Ebere Eze after Ruddy had saved from Washington.

QPR central defender Nedum Onuoha said: “We’ve been guilty this season of missing big chances in big moments.

“That second 45 minutes is as good a team performance as I’ve seen against a very good side.”
