MATT Terry wants to swap the recording studio for a movie set.

Just 14 months after being voted X Factor winner he’s eyeing a move into acting.

Matt said: “I’ve decided I’d like to act. I feel like something for TV or theatre would be good or even a film. I’m open to that side of the industry now. I think it would be really fun. That’s the next step for me.

“I studied drama at college and it was always my forte along with singing. It’s something I’m really interested in. So I’m hoping it will happen at the right time.”

Matt’s management team are already looking at possible roles. He added: “I have had some offers. One project was for theatre and a couple of them were for TV. I don’t have time for them yet. But it’s exciting. I want to do something this year.

“It’s not something people will expect from me. I’ll always be known as an X Factor winner.

“But then anything is possible – look at Harry Styles. He went into acting and now he’s massive. Whatever you put your mind to is possible.”

Since his X Factor victory Matt has built up a loyal fanbase but he has struggled to make his mark on the charts.

His debut album reached No 29 late last year – sparking speculation his singing career won’t last.

Matt explained: “Streaming has changed the music industry. It’s hard for someone like me who’s a new artist.”
