POLICE had to apologise to a snowflake Twitter user who moaned that a helicopter looking for three girls kept him awake.

Rob Crowther complained during the early hours as the chopper searched for the trio of 12-year-olds.

But he soon came under fire for his grumpy exchange with people tweeting: “Get a life.”

Rob wrote: “@WestYorksPolice Is there any reason in particular that your helicopter is keeping everyone in Harehills awake? It’s 00.20hrs. What’s going on?”

The National Police Air Service replied: “Hi Rob, sorry for disturbing you. We were tasked with looking for 3 missing 12yr old girls. They were located but ran from officers.

“They then played hide and seek in gardens until we directed officers into their hiding place. They were safely returned home.”

Other Twitter users slammed Rob, of Leeds, for “over-reacting”.

One said: “Get a life. One night of disturbed sleep, big deal.”

Another wrote: “Stop complaining it’s their job they don’t fly about in them for fun.”

The force defended the use of a chopper, which can mean the “difference between life and death”.

Chief Superintendent Tyron Joyce, of the National Police Air Service said: “A search performed by a police helicopter is 20 times quicker than using police officers on the ground.”
