BUT KANE CROCKED

Harry’s new ankle biter

- By ALEX CROOK

HARRY KANE’S injury curse struck again yesterday. The Tottenham star left Bournemouth on crutches after suffering another ligament injury to his right ankle.

It’s exactly a year ago that England ace Kane damaged the same foot in an FA Cup clash with Millwall, forcing him to miss four weeks and three matches.

He also missed two months earlier in that season with an identical problem.

Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino said: “We are concerned about Harry but need to wait to see the reality.

“It is a ligament problem and it is true he twisted his ankle. We hope and wish it is not a big issue.”

Kane hobbled off on 34 minutes after a challenge with keeper Asmir Begovic.

He threw a water bottle as he headed down the tunnel for treatment.

Pochettino added: “Every player is frustrated to get injured but he is relaxed now and always thinking positive.”

Three Lions boss Gareth Southgate will name his squad on Thursday for the World Cup warm-ups against Holland and Italy later this month.

Starsport revealed last week that Southgate was set to name Kane as captain with

a view to wearing the armband at the World Cup finals in Russia.

Kane’s Spurs and England colleagues Danny Rose and Dele Alli were also forced off during the 4-1 win over Bournemouth but Pochettino hopes the pair will be fit for Saturday’s FA Cup quarter-final with Swansea.

Pochettino said: “It was only fatigue. They are OK and they have a week to recover for the next game.”

Tottenham came from behind to leapfrog Liverpool into third in the Premier League table, thanks to a double from Heung-Min Son and goals from Alli and Serge Aurier.

Pochettino singled out two-goal hero Son for special praise.

He said: “Son is having a fantastic season. He continues to score goals and help us achieve our aims.

“He is in the best form since he arrived at the club. His goals today were important because Bournemouth are not an easy team to play against.”

Bournemouth had taken a shock early lead through Junior Stanislas and also had a Callum Wilson goal ruled out for a foul. Cherries manager Eddie Howe felt the final scoreline was harsh on his team.

Howe said: “The only part I was disappointed with was the end of the game.

“I thought we were a little bit naive the way we chased the game to try and get something from it.” Match report: See pullout
