WE’VE GOT TO WISE UP

PAGES OF FANTASTIC Shenton’s cool heads call

- By JULIE STOTT

MICHAEL SHENTON has warned Castleford not to let the red mist descend again tonight.

A series of niggly feuds almost saw the Tigers blow a 24-0 lead against Leeds at the weekend.

They hung on to win 25-24 but captain Shenton insists they have got to be smarter at Wakefield tonight.

He said: “We let the game get out of control a bit against Leeds and it got a bit fiery because they tried rattling us.

“But we have got to handle that better. That bit of ill-discipline let them back in the game.”

Bashing

Shenton is back in the side tonight after missing the Leeds game with a back injury, along with Oli Holmes who returns from suspension.

And the centre admits he is relieved to get back playing and away from the stressed-out antics of Holmes.

He said: “It’s hard watching a game unfold like that, especially when you’ve got Oli Holmes bashing you in the shoulder every 20 seconds.

“He kept shouting that he wanted to get on but I kept having to tell him to calm down because there was nothing we could do.

“I’m not a screamer or a shouter, but it’s easy to see where things are going wrong when you’re not playing.

“When you’re out there and ® things are going on, it’s very different. But we will learn from it.

“The boys executed some stuff really well but we didn’t deal with kicks well and there are other areas we need to deal with.”

Last year’s Grand Finalists made a disastrous start to the season with a 46-6 defeat at St Helens but have bounced back to lie sixth.

They’ve won all four games since then and have played the fewest number of games after having two postponed.

New signing Liam Watts is not available until Monday’s clash with Warrington, due to a suspension from his time at Hull.

Trinity have played a game more and are third on the same number of points.

Coach Chris Chester has made two changes to the side that lost 34-24 at Warrington, with Joe Arundel and Kyle Wood coming into the squad.
