Mark eyes Queen’s win

-

TIME TO STUDY (3.35) is a well-backed 11-2 favourite to claim the Queen’s Cup, the main event at Musselburgh.

Relatively unexposed, Mark Johnston’s inmate has won half his races and could be well handicapped under conditions to suit.

American Gigolo is a rare flat runner for Harry Fry and Paul Hanagan’s mount is next best at 6-1, as the well-bred stayer bids for a fourth win in a row.

Of those at bigger prices, Mount Tahan improved for the step up in trip at Wolverhampton last time and 12-1 looks a solid each-way price while Clever Cookie relishes these conditions and is no back number at 14-1.

Alpha Delphini (2.25) is unbeaten at the track and is a very strong 5-4 market leader for the Sprint with the soft ground a major plus for Brian Smart’s talented speedster.

Blue De Vega should be fitter for a spin at Doncaster last week and, with cheek pieces applied, we’ve seen interest in this 12-1 shot along with Kyllang Rock at 5-1.

The Mile Handicap (3.00) is a punters’ puzzle but Kevin Ryan’s Ayutthaya looks set for a big future and is already proven on this surface, therefore 4-1 looks very generous for this promising colt.

Indomeneo is 6-1 joint second favourite with Fake News but the former is the most popular of the duo and his odds could contract if sustained support continues.

Breaking Records is another we’ve seen money for at 12-1 and he does have a fitness edge which is important.

Behind Time (3.15) is poised for a big run in Haydock‘s staying chase and 7-2 looks good value for this last time out winner.

Over at Meydan, West Coast (5.50) is even money to bag the $10million Dubai World Cup and provide Bob Baffert with his fourth success in the world’s richest dirt race.

But the likes of French raider Talismanic, whose sire Medaglia D’oro was second in this race in 2004, offers much better value at 7-1 and Poet’s Word is expected to go well at 5-1 under Frankie Dettori in the Sheema Classic (5.10).

On Monday at Fairyhouse, Bellshill and Pairofbrowneyes top the market at 8-1 in a wide open Irish Grand National.
