Carlos plans to spoil party

- By STEFFEN THOMAS

CARLOS CARVALHAL has told his Swansea players to spoil Manchester City’s title party –AFTER giving them a guard of honour. The Swans stars will clap the newly-crowned champions onto the pitch at the Etihad Stadium tomorrow. But the Portuguese boss insists his side can then beat City and move closer to Premier League safety. Carvalhal (left) said: “Of course we want to go there and spoil the party. “Our motivation is to go to Manchester City and try to win the game. We don’t know if their players are less focused and that’s really something that we cannot control.

“What we can control is our own performance. We are going to this party to try to do our best.

Fight

“Our strategy doesn’t change much just because we are playing Manchester City.

“This is our job and we will fight against the strongest side in English football and one of the best in the world.

‘‘But in some recent games we have played well, and those performances have made me feel positive about the future.’’

Swansea are hovering four points above the relegation zone and Carvalhal admits he is watching from behind the sofa as his relegation rivals do battle.

He added: “I watch most of the games they show on TV.

“When I put the TV on the game I have in front of me is the game I watch. I don’t choose the game.

“When you watch you have the same emotions as the fans but I will try to be aware of the games.

“It’s harder to watch games on the TV than when you watch them live.”
