My title is worth lot Mour

- By IAN WINROW

ANTONIO CONTE has taken another swipe at Jose Mourinho.

The Italian clocked up his 65th win from his first 100 Chelsea games at Burnley on Thursday, a return that is second only to Mourinho’s club record of 72.

But Conte reckons he is working in a tougher environment than Mourinho ever had to endure.

Both men delivered the Premier League title in their first season in charge at Stamford Bridge.

But Mourinho took control in 2004, after Claudio Ranieri had led the Blues to the runners-up spot at a time when owner Roman Abramovich was splashing the cash.

Conte was handed the reins in the wake of Mourinho’s second spell in charge and after Chelsea had finished 10th

Asked about his record, the Italian said: “I could do better. Yes. This is my mentality. “For sure, this is a good stat but I know that, this season, we could have done better. “Mourinho was 72 in the first 100? We are talking about a great manager. “Don’t forget that the first 100 games with Mourinho were many years ago. Now it’s not simple, I think. It’s a different era. “Last season we won a title after a 10th place. “When you win a title in this way, it means it’s a great, great achievement. “Not a simple achievement, only because your name is Chelsea and it’s normal because, in the past, you won many titles.” Conte’s hopes of matching Mourinho’s feat of defending the title have long gone and his last chance of silverware lies with the FA Cup. The Blues face Southampton in tomorrow’s semi-final as they attempt to go one better than last season’s final defeat to Arsenal. Conte added: “We must have great motivation to finish the season as strongly as possible.”
