DJ Avicii ‘struggled with stress and illness’
FAMILY TRIBUTE
SUPERSTAR DJ Avicii killed himself after struggling to “find peace”, his family has revealed.
The Swedish DJ, whose real name was Tim Bergling, was found dead by pals in Muscat, Oman, last week.
Confirming that he took his own life, the family of the 28-year-old hitmaker described him as “a fragile, artistic soul searching for answers to existential questions”.
In a statement, his grief-stricken family told fans: “Our beloved
Tim was a seeker... an over-achieving perfectionist who travelled and worked hard at a pace that led to extreme stress.
“When he stopped touring, he wanted to find a balance in life to be happy and be able to do what he loved most – music.
“He really struggled with thoughts about Meaning, Life, Happiness. He could not go on any longer.”
Hinting that he had battled depression throughout his life, his family insisted: “Tim was not made for the business machine he found himself in. Tim, you will for ever be loved and sadly missed. Your music will keep your memory alive. We love you, Your family.”
The DJ, musician and top producer suffered acute pancreatis and had his gall bladder removed in 2014.
His health was so bad in 2016 that he was forced to retire completely from the touring circuit.
