Fury: I’ll hit back at slurs

- By CHRIS McKENNA

WILDER TARGET: Tyson TYSON FURY says that heavyweight rival Deontay Wilder inspired him to come back.

The former world champion has not fought since he dethroned Wladimir Klitschko as king of the division in November 2015.

Fury has been plagued by mental health problems, drug issues and a UK Anti-Doping case while ballooning in weight to 27st.

But he said an Instagram post from Wilder inspired him to get back in shape and make his comeback in Manchester on June 9.

He said: “It was Deontay Wilder who spurred me on and gave me the ambition to return because he said I couldn’t do it. He said, ‘Tyson Fury is done’.

“I was walking along the canal with my dog at the time and I thought, ‘I’m a fat pig’. I felt like jumping in the water and drowning.

“I was looking at my phone and saw his comments and thought, ‘You know what, I can definitely come back and beat you for that’.

“To top it off, there was the stuff he said about Mike Tyson, that he’d knock him out in a round.

“Mike Tyson is a legendary person. This is our era: me, Wilder, Anthony Joshua and all of these guys.

“To speak about someone that you can never fight from a different era... is distasteful.”

Albanian Sefer Seferi has claimed he will be Fury’s comeback opponent in Manchester, although that has not been confirmed yet.
