SLAV OUT TO SWAP SPOTS

- By IAN WINROW

FULHAM boss Slavisa Jokanovic insists Cardiff are clear favourites to clinch an automatic promotion spot.

Jokanovic’s side sit one point behind the Bluebirds, but can move into second spot if they beat relegated Sunderland tonight.

That would ramp up the pressure on Neil Warnock’s team, who lost at Derby in midweek.

But the Cottagers manager is in no doubt he would swap places with the Welsh club going into the final two games of the campaign.

He said: “I’d prefer to change my position with Cardiff’s. They are in a perfect moment, they are one point ahead of us.

“If it was possible, I would prefer to swap and be in second, and I’d prefer they were chasing us.

“It’s important we don’t make mistakes, but the situation is completely under Cardiff ’s control.

“If they win these two games, we cannot do anything.

“If you don’t finish second – which is more or less normal for us because we have never been in this position during this year – you must be brave, do your job, and see what happens.

“In the middle of November we started chasing the many teams above us when we were in 17th.

“If somebody in that moment had offered us the play-offs, I would have immediately signed that contract.”

Chris Coleman insists he wants to stay at Sunderland, despite admitting the club is “floating aimlessly in the dark”.”

Absentee owner Ellis Short is struggling to find a buyer for the club.

But the manager said: “I still have the opportunity to put things right, although right now we can’t put together a plan for the future because we don’t have anybody to do that.

“It’s complete darkness at this minute and that’s unnerving and unsettling but despite all the negativity, this is still a great football club.”
