Blades fans Wild for boss

-

AARON WILBRAHAM was the last-gasp hero as Bolton staged an astonishing fightback to save their skins.

Bolton were facing up to a third relegation in seven seasons before sinking Nottingham Forest late on to keep themselves up.

The Trotters were trailing

2-1 and heading back to League One but David Wheater equalised in the

87th minute before veteran striker Wilbraham’s header

60 seconds later sparked wild scenes.

Bolton manager Phil Parkinson said: “It really is a surreal feeling.

“I said to Steve Parkin, my assistant, it was like being on the pitch after Bradford beat Chelsea at Stamford Bridge – the did-it-really-happen moment.

“It felt a little bit like that because of the manner of the victory.

“It is so big for the club. I can’t tell you how important it is for Bolton.

“It was a tough season. We had many ups and downs but we have stuck together and produced a terrific comeback. That is what football is all about.

“We have competed in this division in unprecedented conditions, we haven’t spent one penny.

“We sold our best striker, Gary Madine, in January to keep the club going.”

Adam Le Fondre looked to have been Bolton’s saviour by stepping off the bench to volley Bolton ahead after 67 minutes.

But Ben Osborn and Jack Colback stunned the hosts to put Nottingham Forest in front.

Bolton needed a win to be sure of survival and Wheater and 38-year-old striker Wilbraham came up trumps.

Forest boss Aitor Karanka said: “It is different feelings when you are playing for something and when you are playing for nothing.

“When you are playing for nothing, I don’t want to say you are not at 100 per cent, but when you are playing for your lives, every single ball is your life.”
