WE’LL PUEL TOGETHER!
Wes backs under-fire boss
WES MORGAN shot down suggestions player power will see under-fire boss Claude Puel exit Leicester.
The Foxes captain insists his teammates are trying to implement Puel’s ideas – although this latest limp display suggested anything but.
Leicester have won just four of their last 19 games and their half-hearted so-called lap of appreciation looked as committed as their dismal display, in stark contrast to the wild celebrations that greeted their shock title win in 2016.
Control
Puel’s methods and his distant approach have left question marks over the future of the Frenchman.
Morgan said: “We are the players. We have no control over what happens upstairs and what the board, chairman, whoever is in charge, wants to do.
“Basically we go out there and implement the manager’s ideas and that is all we can do.”
If Leicester were poor before Joao Mario fired West Ham ahead in the 34th minute, they were awful after it.
Mark Noble’s stunning 64th-minute strike clinched West Ham’s first win in five games to ensure the Hammers will be staying up for another year. Noble, 30, said: “It was my best by far. I thought if LEICESTER (4-2-3-1): HAMER
6; Benalouane 6, Morgan 5, Maguire
5, Fuchs 4; Choudhury 5 (Iheanacho Iborra 61, 4),
4 (Dragovic 45, 4); Mahrez 5, Silva
5, Diabate 4 (Gray 61, 4); Vardy
4. Subs: Jakupovic, Thomas, Barnes, Hughes.
UP NEXT: Arsenal (h), Premier League, Wednesday.
WEST HAM (4-4-2): Adrian
7; Zabaleta 7, Rice 7, Ogbonna 7, Cresswell 7; Mario 7, Kouyate 6, Noble 7, MASUAKU 8 (Evra 90); Arnautovic
7 (Fernandes 79), Lanzini 7 (Carroll
75). Subs: Hugill, Obiang, Cullen, Trott.
UP NEXT: Manchester United
(h), Premier League, Thursday.
Referee: Chris Kavanagh.
YOUR TURN: Which Algeria striker scored when Leicester beat West Ham
1-0 at home last season? without the possibility to perform in our last game and give this feeling.”
Hammers boss David Moyes admits he has to find out if the board want him to continue. He said: “I’ll wait. It’s not going to change. After the end of the season I’ll find out what’s happening.”
But he feels for Puel, who was only appointed in November.
He added: “I’ve got massive sympathy. Totally. I feel for any manager. It’s a little bit about expectations.”
