Stringy family’s double tragedy

ELDER BROTHER: Peter PETER Stringfell­ow died on the day his estranged brother was laid to the rest.

The so-called King Of Clubs, known as “Stringy” to pals, lost his battle with lung cancer on Thursday.

Later that day the funeral of younger sibling Terry took place in their home city of Sheffield.

Terry had been the self-confessed “bad boy” of the family. He worked at his famous brother’s clubs for years, but was finally fired by Peter amid alcohol and legal problems.

Peter paid for his brother to go into rehab.

Terry later said: “I have been a bad boy with drink and things like that but I want a quiet life.

“Peter’s one of the greatest guys and

I couldn’t wish for a better brother, but I have done wrong to him.

“It’s me who has been the bad boy of the family, but Peter has always been the one who has helped me out and I do apologise.”

Peter – who had two other brothers – had admitted being unable to help Terry was one of the saddest episodes of his life.

He said: “I have a younger brother who I just don’t know how to assist.”
