GOD LOOKS A GIVEN

-

GOD GIVEN (2.50) ran a cracker on her seasonal bow when fourth against the boys at Ascot last month.

That spin is sure to have put her cherry-ripe for a tilt at the Group Three Betway Pinnacle Stakes at Haydock which is confined to the fairer sex.

The four-year-old filly, from the Luca Cumani yard, was ridden by Jamie Spencer when she landed a similar event at Deauville in August, for which she incurs no penalty – and Jamie is back on board today.

The last five winners of the Listed Achilles Stakes have all been rated over 105, which leads me to believe that the 107-rated JUDICIAL (3.25) is going to take all the beating.

Julie Camacho’s six-year-old was runner-up in a Group Three contest at Newmarket in early May over today’s five-furlong trip, so a repetition of that effort will be more than good enough.

GEORGIAN MANOR (3.05) was rated 87 when he bolted up by more than three lengths in a Beverley maiden last month, and the assessor has taken a chance in leaving Sir Michael Stoute’s progressive three-year-old on the same mark.

He lines up for the Animal Health Trust Handicap at Newmarket and given he has had only four runs, the son of Iffraaj has plenty of scope to improve past his current mark.

Kevin Ryan has put the excellent 5lb claimer Nicola Currie back on MAJOR JUMBO (2.30), who she teamed up with to score at Newmarket in April off a rating of 94.

The pair were then third of 18 at York in May so the progressive four-year-old must still have a great each-way squeak in the

17-runner Edinburgh Gin’s Scottish Sprint Cup at Musselburgh, rated just 7lb higher than for the victory at HQ.
