Copper-bottomed chance in Sprint

- MARK PEARSON

THE Scoop6 bonus fund went begging on Derby day so there is £650,000 waiting for Scoop6 punters next weekend if they can find the super six today.

We start at Musselburgh where Copper Knight can land the Scottish Sprint Cup. He has fallen back to his last winning rating and will come on for his seasonal reappearance at York three weeks ago. He is also well drawn.

Ultimate Avenue tired in the closing stages on his first start of the season at Newbury but travelled well for a long way and was third in a big handicap over course and distance at last year’s July meeting.

We stay at Newmarket where Georgian Manor can score for Sir Michael Stoute. He shed the maiden tag at Beverley last time, but was beaten a nose previously at Lingfield by the very useful Emblazoned..

Over at Haydock, Muthmir can build on his decent fifth in the Temple Stakes to land the Achilles Stakes for William Haggas before Amazing Red can turn form around with a couple of horses in the staying handicap back at HQ.

He was not far behind the re-opposing Fire Jet and Alqamar three weeks ago, but is weighted to beat those rivals this time with Frankie Dettori aboard.

In the last leg, Open Wide will love the prevailing underfoot conditions – like he encountered when runner-up twice at Windsor this season.

Our selection was placed on his only previous visit to Haydock.
