WHAT’S HOT TO WATCH TODAY
HAVE you been watching that BBC2 series Frankie Goes To Russia, where comedian Frankie Boyle takes the temperature of the host nation ahead of the World Cup?
Good, isn’t it? But guess what. The BBC bigwigs seem to have decided it’s not enough – probably got too many jokes in it or something – and that they need to send someone else to the same place, to basically do the same job. Ridiculous, eh?
All we’re getting as a result is PUTIN’S RUSSIA WITH DAVID DIMBLEBY (9pm, BBC1), a documentary investigating life under Vladimir’s regime and looking at what it’s like for those who oppose it. And Dimbleby can’t crack gags for toffee. TALKING of the big tournament, Gary Lineker and pals are popping up at 10.45pm (BBC1) with their FIFA WORLD CUP 2018 PREVIEW, asking who’s most likely to topple reigning champs Germany. EARLIER, on ITV, THE FAST FIX: DIABETES (9pm) asks: “Could you live for a month on just 800 calories a day?”
I reply: “No. Don’t be stupid.” Besides, even if I could, I would not suddenly have the perfect
body. None of us would as our bodies are fundamentally flawed. I know this thanks to CAN SCIENCE MAKE ME PERFECT? WITH ALICE
ROBERTS (BBC4, 9pm), where the presenter imagines an alternative version of the human form – inspired, would you believe, by the animal kingdom.
Sounds weird, I know, but you can see where she’s coming from. Me, I’ve always thought I’d look cute with an elephant’s trunk and the tail of a donkey.
