MY girlfriend has agreed to carry a baby for her friend without discussing it with me first.

Her friend is unable to have kids, so my girlfriend has offered to be a surrogate for her and her husband.

And not only that, his sperm is to be donated by the natural method (ie. full intercourse) because that’s the most efficient way.

To say I’m furious is an understatement. For a start, my girl didn’t discuss this ridiculous plan with me.

Secondly, I don’t even like this couple and I don’t want my girl having sex with that moron.

Now we’re rowing all the time and the desperate couple have accused me of being cruel and heartless.

As my girl and I aren’t married I’m being labelled a control freak for putting my nose in where it’s not wanted.

Am I the only sane one around here?

Is she really interested in having full sex with this other man? Does she know what being pregnant and giving birth is like?

It’s one thing doing it for herself, but for someone else?

I urge you both to keep talking. Beg her to listen while you (calmly) put your point of view across.

Spell out your concerns, fears and how you feel. Is this arrangement financially driven?

Is she being put under any undue pressure?

Or is she offering to have this baby out of the kindness of her heart?

Have you ever actually told her that you’d like a baby with her?

Sadly, if she chooses to go ahead without your blessing then you’ll have to conclude that you’re not as important to her as you thought you were.
