Charlton stars in ‘teen hotel attack’
TWO British football stars have appeared in court in Ibiza over an alleged sex attack on a teenage UK holidaymaker.
Charlton players Reeco Hackett-Fairchild and Karlan Ahearne-Grant – an England Under-19 international – were arrested early on Tuesday after the girl’s parents complained to police.
The alleged incident is believed to have taken place at a hotel in Cala de Bou near
San Antonio.
The 19-year-old British tourist and a female friend met the pair at a bar on
Monday and agreed to go back to their hotel.
A third British man, aged
26 and not believed to be a footballer, was also arrested. He appeared in court later.
The League One players, both 20, were led into the
Ibiza courthouse yesterday in handcuffs with their heads bowed.
Detectives have been told that one of the men forced himself on the holidaymaker while the other is alleged to have held her down and a third filmed what was happening on a mobile phone.
The three, who were on holiday in Ibiza with friends, were quizzed by a magistrate in private.
A spokesman for the Spanish National Police said: “The investigations are still ongoing and further arrests have not been ruled out.”
A statement by Charlton Athletic said: “The club have been made aware and are looking into this matter.
“Due to the ongoing investigation we will not be commenting any further at this stage.”
