FANS can finally get their teeth into some new mysteries.

It’s been more than 18 months since Sherlock last aired on telly.

But its creators have revealed they’ve come up with cases for the show’s new immersive attraction.

Mark Gatiss said: “It’s not based on a famous case.”

Steven Moffat added: “We couldn’t do that. It wouldn’t work. If you go into one of the mysteries and there’s a bell rope attached to a wall you’d think, ‘Oh, that’s The Speckled Band’. The answer can’t be something that’s already existed for over a hundred years. That would be wrong.”

Mark added: “You’d exclude people who didn’t know it and if anyone did know it they’d solve it straight away. We were very keen to make sure it feels like something you can get.

“You don’t have to have seen the show or even really know Sherlock Holmes, you can still do it. Also, you don’t have to spend too long digesting back story when all you really want to do is get on with the game.”

Sherlock: The Game Is Now, an escape-room experience, opens in London in October.

Thankfully for fans the challenges won’t be as tough as the ones they’ve seen on the series.

Mark said: “The difference between this and a TV deduction, which could be a huge leap of imagination, is that you have to be able to solve it. There are also more things involved, locks and things like that, which you actually can do.

“Cumulatively it’s a test. That’s what it is.”
