UBER ‘PROBED’ 2,500 DRIVERS

UBER has secretly investigated more than 2,500 of its drivers in London for crimes that include sex assaults, stalking and dangerous driving.

It is thought that a similar number of Uber drivers outside the capital are also being investigated.

The information comes from documents given to regulators as Uber today launches its appeal against a ban in London.

In September last year, Transport for London revoked its licence when police revealed that Uber had failed to report half a dozen sex attacks and three more crimes.

Steve McNamara, the general secretary of the Licensed Taxi Drivers’ Association, said: “The original police protest was about nine crimes. Now we discover Uber knew about, but failed to report, dozens, even hundreds of crimes.”
